The University System of Georgia announced that public colleges and universities will require ACT or SAT scores for Spring 2022 applicants and beyond. This means that the test score optional approach that was taken during this admissions cycle will not be extended. The bigger implication of this action that other state university systems may follow in the footsteps of the University System of Georgia. The National Center for Fair and Open Testing or FairTest, a long time critic of the standardized admissions testing, reports that over 1400 bachelor degree granting colleges will not require ACT or SAT scores for Fall 2022 applicants. FairTest even calls test-optional and test-blind admissions the “new normal” at 60% of bachelor degree granting colleges.
So yes there will be a great many test optional or test blind choices for Fall 2022 applicants but some of the bigger, state systems may pursue a very different course.
