What Matters Most is the Fit

by Brett E. Kennedy, Managing Director

May 1 is the National Candidate Reply Date. For many of the students admitted for Fall 2021, they have to make a commitment to a college by May 1. I have had the honor of working with a group of interesting and talented students navigating the college admissions and aid process during this past school year, and I am thrilled with the wide variety of opportunities that await each of them.

My clients were accepted to an outstanding, and diverse, group of schools this year. Included in this group are Agnes Scott College, College of the Atlantic, High Point University, Warren Wilson College, Guilford College, Earlham College, Sewanee: The University of the South, Georgia College and State University, Allegheny College, Appalachian State University, Harvard University, Columbia University, Kennesaw State University, the University of Georgia, the University of South Carolina-Columbia, Auburn University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mercer University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Texas State University-San Marcos, Columbia College Chicago, University of Mississippi, the University of Alabama, Middle Tennessee State University, Southern Methodist University, University of Hartford, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and others. These colleges are tremendously different in size, location, emphasis and student. Of course, these differences represent the diversity that is evident in the clients I have the honor of working with. Each student wants something different in a college.

As we think about the colleges each student selected on this National Candidate Reply Date, the most important thing to consider is what I call “right fit.”  Neither prestige, athletic renown, selectivity or expense are the most important factor if a student does not fit at the college academically, socially, or financially. In short, what we need is a place the student can thrive. I am proud that my students have each made a choice that is that right fit.

I welcome the opportunity to take the madness out of your college search and application process with a focus on the most important thing – finding a place where you can thrive. Reach out today!
